Turquoise Hill rejects Rio Tinto's $2.7 bln buyout offer

Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd on Monday rejected an offer by majority shareholder Rio Tinto Ltd , to buy the 49% stake it doesn't already own for $2.7 billion, as it did not reflect the Canadian company's full and fair value.

First quarter 2022 results:EPS: US$1.37 (up from US$1.18 in 1Q 2021).Revenue: US$402.7m (down 24% from 1Q 2021).Net income: US$275.2m (up 16% from 1Q 2021).Profit margin: 68% (up from 45% in 1Q 2021). The increase in margin was driven by lower expenses.Revenue exceeded analyst estimates by 6.4%. Earnings per share (EPS) also surpassed analyst estimates by 487%.
