I’ve said this before and I will say it again, the exchange price of Bitcoin is not the most important number to look at. The things to look at are transaction volume on the network and developer adoption. On these two metrics, Bitcoin seems to be doing quite well.

If Bitcoin and Blockchain is going to be a meaningful technological revolution, and I think it will be, then we are going to move from the installation phase to the deployment phase at some point and there will be a major financial break point that happens along the way.

What is less clear to me is whether this “collapse” will be seen in the price of Bitcoin, the health of the overall Bitcoin and Blockchain sector and the companies in it, or possibly the broader capital markets (VC, public equity, etc). It seems to me that the first is very likely, the second is also likely, and the third is less likely.

El unete también consiguió recaudar mucho dinero para la tecnología blockchain que lo revolucionaría todo, y no era más que vaporware o ni eso, simplemente lo que la gente quería oír. Y si eso fue orquestado por gente sin reputación, imagina lo que podrían hacer los bancos mencionando las palabras "blockchain", "innovación", "futuro" y "seguridad".
Y todo pese a no tener una linea de código detrás ni ser capaces de contestar a preguntas tan sencillas como por ejemplo de qué manera van a garantizar que se cumplan las leyes AML/KYC a la vez que el anonimato de los usuarios en las transacciones de sus blockchains privadas.

No sé tú, pero yo veo el símbolo de bitcoin en la portada del Economist.

Voting begins for 2015’s Bitfilm Festival

Bitfilm, Bitcoin’s own film festival has opened up the voting booths this October 31 to choose the best Bitcoin film of 2015. How do you vote? Well, with bitcoin of course.

Bitfilm is a festival that has been celebrating digital technology films since Y2K was debunked. Every year they hold a festival showcasing the nominated films and have the audience vote democratically for their top choice. Since 2014, however, they’ve turned their attention to Bitcoin, shifting the focus of their festival - without even changing their name.

This year’s festival has already begun with films being screened all over world. Among the cities that will be showcasing the nominees are:

• Berlin - Oct 31
• Saigon - Nov 28
• Amsterdam - Dec 2
• Budapest - Dec 3

As well as over 10 cities whose dates are yet be confirmed including Accra, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, London, Luxembourg, Madrid, Mexico City (LaBitConf), Miami, Rome, San Francisco, Stockholm, and Ubud/Bali.
