Venezuela: The Farce of Bolivarian Military Defense
In just two hours, with not a single missile fired and no US casualties, Maduro's regime collapsed militarily. What was presented as a popular army and ironclad defense vanished before the first serious operation. Images of uncoordinated militia members, disguised commanders in meeting rooms, and helicopters flying at 100 meters above ground without opposition have buried the epic Numantine resistance some wanted to sell.
A Cardboard Defense
The data says it all: zero US casualties. Not one soldier dead, not one helicopter shot down. The "Bolivarian heavy infantry" turned out to be a group of poorly equipped reservists who, according to testimonies, looked more like extras from an ape movie than a combat force. The comparison with Afghan resistance, which defeated three powers, is inevitable and devastating.
Special forces entered at leisure, as if invited. Military commanders, instead of coordinating a defense, devoted themselves to recording videos in campaign uniforms in their barracks. The fifth column, betrayal, or simply incompetence are the explanations analysts consider.
Pact or Incompetence?
One current suggests the operation was facilitated by high-ranking officers or by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez herself, whose presence at the airport with suitcases hours before the capture raises all suspicions. Another stance holds that the Venezuelan army is simply a bluff: a corrupt structure without fighting spirit, sustained only by propaganda.
The fact is that the military collapse occurred without real combat. While some compare it to the surrender of Francoists in Spain, others recall that in Somalia rebels shot down helicopters with RPGs. Here, not even that.
An Uncomfortable Question
The question hovering over the entire analysis is whether we are facing the worst army of the century or a social engineering operation designed from Washington. The estimulante ilegal and cleanliness of Maduro's capture in his bunker, surrounded by Cuban security, suggest someone peine the door. Meanwhile, the discourse of Numantine resistance is reduced to a meme.
