Narco 'fantastic' van seized in Spain's Operation Tijuana sparks memes

Vehicle seized in Operation Tijuana draws comments for its resemblance to the 'Knight Rider' car

A photo of a white van parked next to a car imitating KITT from the eighties TV series has spread like wildfire on social media. It is not a film set: it is the material seized from the drug traffickers arrested in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as part of Operation Tijuana. The contrast between the van's 'discretion' and its companion has not gone unnoticed.

A police raid with a pop touch

The operation, which led to several arrests, included the seizure of a fleet of vehicles. Among them, one van stood out: according to sources from the investigation, it was used to transport drugs. But what has really caught people's attention is the vehicle accompanying it: a replica of the famous Pontiac Trans Am from the series 'Knight Rider'. Some comments suggest it may have been an attempt by the traffickers to blend into popular culture, or perhaps an excess of confidence.

From TV series to reality

Online forums have joked about the scene, comparing the suspects to characters from 'The A-Team' or suggesting the van may have been used to recruit unsuspecting victims with the promise of a job. "They show you the van, offer you a job, and you're already saying yes," reads one of the most shared comments. Reality, however, is less cinematic: those arrested face sentences that can exceed ten years in prison for drug trafficking.

Auction announced

It has been confirmed that both the van and the replica car will go to public auction. What remains unknown is whether the new owner will keep the design or bring it into line with the law. Meanwhile, the image of the van next to KITT will keep circulating as the unintended meme of an operation that, in every other respect, has been a police success.
