» Grace Period Deadline Extended to February 28, 2025

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring inclusivity and fairness across the Pi Network, we’re extending the Grace Period deadline from January 31, 2025 to February 28, 2025. This change provides additional time for Pioneers to complete KYC verification and Mainnet migration, helping more members secure their Pi and contribute to the growing ecosystem.
Note that the Grace Period is independent of Open Network timing. It is possible for Open Network to launch before or after the Grace Period ends, and the Grace Period rules will remain the same regardless.

Due to the high sensitivity and severe consequences of the Grace Period deadlines, we want to be as allowing as possible for more Pioneers to have the opportunity to secure their Pi by extending the Grace Period deadlines to February 28, 2025.
This decision reflects our dedication to making Pi Network accessible and equitable for everyone—aligning with and pushing forward our broader mission to prepare for Open Network in Q1 2025.

What Does This Extension Miccionan?​

  1. Submit your KYC application and complete your Mainnet Checklist to migrate to Mainnet by February 28, 2025.

    remain unchanged. If you fail to complete KYC or Mainnet migration within the Grace Period, you risk forfeiting most of your Mobile Balance (except for Pi mined in the rolling 6 months before migration).

Why Extend the Grace Period?​

This additional month is designed to support Pioneers who may still need more time to complete their KYC or migration steps. It also reflects our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility across the global Pi community. This extension—like with previous extensions—helps in the trinc ways:
  • Inclusivity and fairness: Ensures that as many Pioneers as possible can complete their KYC and Mainnet migration, minimizing forfeiture of Pi due to missed deadlines.
  • Further remedy for corner cases: This extension serves as another overall remedy for those in specific cases by giving them more time overall to complete KYC and Mainnet migration, without expending too much additional resources and time on refining the timer to solve one case at a time.
  • Preparing for Open Network: Allowing more Pioneers to complete KYC and migration strengthens the overall network ahead of Open Network launch. With more verified participants on Mainnet, we ensure a healthier, more secure ecosystem that is more prepared for Open Network.

Addressing Potential Questions​

We understand that some Pioneers may have questions about what this extension means for Pi Network as a whole. Let’s clarify:
    1. Does this extension affect the Open Network launch?
      • No, this extension does not delay or affect Open Network launch plans. The Open Network is still on track for Q1 2025. The Grace Period and Open Network timing are independent.
    2. What happens if I miss the new Grace Period deadline?
      • If you miss the February 28, 2025, deadline, you will only keep the Pi mined in the 6 months immediately before your migration. Any older balance outside this rolling window will be forfeited. Given the multiple extensions provided, we strongly encourage you to act now to secure your full Pi balance.
    3. How much additional time has been added to the Grace Period?
      • A total of 2 additional months have been added to the Grace Period, which was initially scheduled to conclude on December 31, 2024. According to the Whitepaper, the Grace Period was meant to be a 6-month period in which Pioneers could complete KYC and Mainnet migration, but this has now been extended an additional 2 months.

What Should You Do Now?​

We strongly urge all Pioneers to complete their KYC application and Mainnet migration steps as soon as possible.
To complete your Grace Period requirements, first go to your Pi mining app and tap “Mainnet Checklist” at the top of your screen to get to the Mainnet Checklist. Or, tap the hamburger icon on the top left to open up the menu, and then tap “Mainnet” and then “Mainnet Checklist”.

All the steps to complete KYC and Mainnet migration are listed in this Mainnet Checklist.
Note that Pioneers with tentative KYC status or waiting for full KYC results and migration may need to complete actions. For example, some Pioneers need to complete additional liveness checks (make sure the video is clear with good lighting). When prompted in the mining app for such additional liveness checks, please take the liveness checks and do not close the popup. Sign the token acknowledgment in the Mainnet Checklist even if you are still waiting for your KYC results, as it is required for anyone to migrate to Mainnet anyway. Others must secure their account as required in the Mainnet Checklist. Check your KYC app and Mainnet Checklist today and take actions when prompted in order to receive your final KYC results and get ready for migration as soon as possible!
Also remind your Referral Team and Security Circle members to meet their respective deadlines.

  • Identity Verification Through KYC and Migration:
    • Only Pioneers who complete KYC and their Mainnet Checklist can transfer their mined transferable Pi balance to the blockchain. This ensures that Pi at Open Network remains secure, bot-free, and rooted in real human participation. By prioritizing verified users, the Grace Period safeguards the network’s long-term health, utility, and stability.
  • Allowing Time to Migrate While Incentivizing Pogre:
    • The Grace Period strikes a balance between giving Pioneers adequate time to pass KYC and migrate while maintaining a sense of urgency. This policy will serve to accelerate our pogre toward Open Network and its required pre-conditions, as well as help Pioneers get more of their Referral and Security Circle bonuses transferable to Mainnet, as a result of more members of their Referral Team and Security Circle getting KYC’d and migrated.
  • Supporting Network Utility and Growth:
    • Without KYC and migration, Pioneers cannot use Pi for payments in apps or other transactions within the utility-based ecosystem. The Grace Period ensures timely participation, enabling more Pioneers to engage with, actively contribute to, and benefit from the Pi ecosystem’s growing utility.
  • Preventing Unverified Pi From Impacting the Network:
    • This policy helps prevent unverified Pi beyond the rolling 6-month period from migrating to the Mainnet, and it helps avoid creating too much uncertainty for the Open Network and network planning that is unfavorable to the network and all Pioneers. Instead, such Pi will get freed up for mining by other KYC’d Pioneers in the future.

La única verdad es que los listos intentan convencer a los demás para que no vendan en open mainnet, algo habitual en cualquier lanzamiento del criptomundo. Es la única forma de que el lanzamiento sea un éxito para ellos.

y con ese dinero pueden hacer muchas cosas:
1/3 para comprarse caprichos, que la vida son dos días​
1/3 para invertirlo en otros proyectos que estén a buen precio(Pi no lo estará en el lanzamiento)​

Porqué va a caer? muy sencillo, porque el precio de lanzamiento siempre está manipulado por "los listos"

Y más en esta ocasión, que el lanzamiento va a coincidir casi con total seguridad, con el máximo de mercado cripto, que para el que no recuerde, hizo mínimo a final de 2022 con BTC en 15k$

Lo de los PI bloqueados puedes verlo en la misma aplicación, que te informa de lo bloqueado a nivel mundial. Y efectivamente la mayoría lo está a 3 años (lo mas) o 1 año
 
Dentro de Pi Browser buscáis la aplicacion ExplorePi y ahí encontráis todo tipo de estadisticas

Our Journey Here​

Pi Network’s over six-year journey to Open Network has been built on milestones and deliberate phases driven by Pioneers, the ecosystem, and community. The current Mainnet Phase 3 began in December 2021 with the launch of the Enclosed Network period, which meant Mainnet was live but with a firewall that prevents any external connectivity. This period set the stage for Open Network, allowing time for:
  • Pioneers to complete KYC and obtain Pi on Mainnet;
  • Developers to build real apps and utilities for the Pi ecosystem; and
  • The Core Team to release and improve various Pi antiestéticatures and utilities.
A new mining rewards issuance formula was also released in March 2022 early on in the Enclosed Network, trinc a declining exponential model that balances the network’s need for growth, accessibility, longevity, and scarcity while right-sizing the Pioneers’ rewards for contribution to the network.

was enacted July 1st, 2024—accelerating pogre towards Open Network—to strike a balance between providing Pioneers adequate time to pass KYC and be eligible to obtain Pi on Mainnet, while creating enough incentive and urgency for people to pass KYC and migrate to Open Network. In preventing unverified Pi beyond the rolling 6-month KYC period from obtaining Pi on Mainnet, this strategy helps Pi get freed up for mining by other Pioneers.
All the while, Pioneers who obtained Pi on Mainnet were able to transact Pi with other Pioneers within the network. For example,

, a one week event, facilitated the transaction of Pi for goods and services between Pi merchants and Pioneer shoppers on a local level, attracting over 27,000 active sellers and 28,000 test merchants across 160 countries, and participation of over 950,000 Pioneers within just a few days. PiFest showcased Pi’s complete ecosystem for local commerce integration, connecting store discovery through Map of Pi, payments via Pi Wallet, transactions on Pi Mainnet blockchain, and social sharing on Fireside Forum—all seamlessly working across different existing Pi applications

What to Expect from Open Network at Launch​

The launch of the Open Network brings an important new change—external connectivity—to the layer-1 Pi blockchain creating an environment where Pi can connect securely with external systems, expanding opportunities for Pioneers and businesses.

Connecting Pi With the Outside World​

The transition to Open Network will enable external connectivity on the Mainnet blockchain, allowing Pi to interface with other compliant networks and systems. This means Pioneers will be able to engage in transactions beyond the Pi ecosystem, expanding Pi’s utility and reach.
Upon Open Network launch with the firewall removed, anyone can technically add nodes to the Mainnet blockchain, in terms of running the protocol and connecting to the network. The Core Team will gradually invite Pioneers to transition their nodes from Testnet to Mainnet via the desktop node UI, prioritizing those with strong historical contributions and reliability scores. Node rank data will be made public as soon as possible.

Business Compliance Requirements for Network Participation​

To maintain a safe and compliant ecosystem, participation in Mainnet blockchain activities will require KYC (Know Your Customer) verification for Pioneers, and KYB (Know Your Business) verification for businesses. Overall, Pi intends to be a safe Web3 space where Pioneers can have external connections with the Pi they hold—KYB’d businesses and partners interface with real KYC’d Pioneers, and vice versa.

Update on Open Network Conditions​

The Open Network date was chosen based on the

Pi Network’s pogre in completing the Open Network conditions has continued and accelerated through community efforts since the December 2024 timeline update. The network has now reached all conditions required for Open Network, and thus it is time for the Open Network!
Let’s go over the conditions in detail below.
  • Condition 1: All tech, product, business, and legal work necessary to reach Open Network has been completed.
  • Condition 2:
    • 19 million Pioneers verified their identity through the Pi KYC solution, including fully and tentatively KYC’d as originally defined in the condition. This exceeds the original requirement of 15 million in the condition.
    • 10.14 million Pioneers have migrated to the Mainnet, exceeding the original goal of 10 million.
    • We’ve reached over 100 Mainnet or Mainnet-ready apps, which meets the 100 app goal to offer the vibrant, engaged, and diverse utility necessary for Pi Network to thrive in Open Network at launch.
  • Condition 3: There will be no further delays to the Open Network launch due to external factors or an unfavorable environment.
Pioneers should continue to KYC and migrate to Mainnet if they haven’t already before or after the Open Network launch, and engage with Pi apps in the Pi Browser to support ecosystem development and long-term utility. Likewise, community developers are encouraged to develop, refine and launch apps that meet Pi Network’s standards and contribute to the community and its utility.

What Pioneers and Developers Should Do During the Open Network Period​

Contributions from Pioneers and community developers are essential to the network’s strength and resilience as new challenges emerge in the Open Network phase.
Here’s how Pioneers can engage actively:
  1. Mining and contributions: Continue mining, with rate adjustments in line with the declining exponential issuance model and monthly limits.
  2. Utility building: Engage with Pi Apps, support Pi Network and Pi through your use of the platform and Pi, and help to expand the ecosystem’s utility. Developers are encouraged to refine existing, and create new, solutions that address the genuine needs of the Pi community and beyond.
  3. Local commerce integration: Store owners are encouraged to continue to accept Pi, allowing Pioneers to participate in peer-to-peer transactions for goods and services, bringing Pi continued utility in Pioneers’ everyday life.
  4. KYC and migration: The network should continue the KYC and migration process after Open Network launches. If you haven’t yet, please do so as soon as possible in the Open Network period.
For developers:
  1. Improve your Mainnet apps: Ensure that you make refinements to your apps to address user needs and wants, and to address any issues that arise trinc Mainnet.
  2. Develop new Mainnet apps: Build Pi apps to contribute to the Pi Ecosystem. Learn more
