The organisers of Integrated Systems Europe have finally made the decision to postpone #ISE2021.
The event was due to take place at Gran Via, part of the Fira de Barcelona exhibition complex in Spain, February 2-5, 2021 and would, of course, have been the first time that the trade show had taken place in Barcelona.
Exhibitors were told over the last few days that the organisers would be trying to re-schedule the event for sometime in the summer and after we were first to break the news. on Monday September 14, 2020 at 18:25 (in this post actually), the organisers had no choice but to ‘officially’ inform the rest of the press (yes folks, a well planned PR strategy once again).
The spin to the press which they all ate up (why wouldn’t they, they all receive a lot of advertising from ISE) was firmly ‘this is a postponement’ and not a ‘cancellation’ but I don’t think anyone has really thought this through.
As is the state of ISE’s PR and Marketing at the moment, there are mixed messages everywhere.
If you figure that ‘summer’ is likely June or July (few people in continental Europe would countenance any event that took place in their precious vacation month of August) then..
It’s big news for the event industry, sad news for Barcelona (it’s only a matter of time now before #MWC2021, due to take place March 1-4, 2021, is also cancelled) and its a big loss to the AV industry.

Towards the latter part of this week it is likely that the organisers will officially announce this. The spin we believe is that a virtual-something-or-other will still take place in February (some free advice, don’t bother) and that they will try to re-arrange the event for sometime in the summer.
If this last bit is true, we don’t see how that could possibly happen if plans for #InfoComm21 which is supposed to take place June 12-16, 2021 in Orlando, FL., are still in place.

- How would these new dates for #ISE2021 work alongside #InfoComm21 which is scheduled to take place June 12-16, 2021 in Orlando, FL. – unless AVIXA also have an announcement for us?
- If you look at the event calendar for Fira de Barcelona exhibition complex next summer you will see June is somewhat busy, July is empty bar one event and August (of course) is completely empty. There’s a reason why July is empty – it is quite simply NOT a popular time to hold an event.
- It doesn’t take a rocket scientist either to know that Barcelona will be busy in the summer. If hotel rooms and flights are readily available they won’t be cheap.
