Vox MP Macarena Olona partying in Alicante sparks criticism and controversy

Olona and her friends: the Alicante night out setting social media alight

While most politicians keep a low profile, Vox MP Macarena Olona has been caught mid-night-out in Alicante. The images, circulated without any official context, show the politician accompanied by three women in a festive setting. The reaction was swift: criticism for frivolity, for her age, for not having children... A flood of judgments mixing sarracena and political score-settling.

What do the photographs show?

The image, which has spread like wildfire, shows four women in what appears to be an after-hours venue. Olona is smiling and holding a glass. Her companions, according to the comments, are "spinsters", "childless" and "with lots of cats". The label "parasites" has also appeared. There is no confirmation of the exact date or the venue, but the political impact is already real.

The double standard

Some analysts point out that scrutiny of female politicians' private lives is especially ruthless. While a male politician going out drinking adds to his "man of the people" image, women are expected to behave impeccably. In this case, Olona's own profile is also a factor, as she has defended traditional family values. The irony has not gone unnoticed.

What about Olona?

For now, neither the MP nor her party have commented. The images speak for themselves, but they also leave room for interpretation. What is clear is that the controversy is already served, and in the age of social media, a night out can stay in the spotlight for weeks.
