The first contact occurred in June 2014, at a Podemos event at Pablo de Olavide University in Seville. What is non-consensual submission and how does it differ from BDSM?

BDSM is a set of sensual practices—domination, submission, masochism—where terms are negotiated beforehand, consent is explicit, and a safe word is usually established to mark limits. There are constant check-ins on how each party feels. Without that framework, what remains is something else.

Violeta maintains that there was never a safe word or control checks, describing the encounter as "aggressive, violent, and humiliating." He, according to her version, spoke about the matter in political terms. She arrived at this interpretation years later: at the time, she understood it as role-play.
